During the debate “The profitability triangle: investor – financing – regulator”, experts discussed the barriers and opportunities facing the transformation of the Polish district heating sector. Wiesław Podraza presented a unique approach that combines UOS Drilling S.A.'s many years of experience as a contractor delivering deep wells with the practical perspective of a geothermal heating plant operator.

The presentation highlighted the key factors that determine the economic success of such projects:

  • Optimising CAPEX through proven engineering procedures and drilling risk management,
  • Shortening the investment preparation and delivery cycle,
  • The need to flexibly adapt regulatory and tariff frameworks to the specific nature of geothermal investments.
UOS Group's drilling expertise as a driver of the heating sector transformation

The Polish district heating sector faces the need to make bold, multi-billion decisions. Deep geothermal energy can no longer be regarded as a niche curiosity – it is a fully mature baseload source of heat and a cornerstone of the country's energy security.

However, the success of an investment depends on professional execution. As UOS Group and UOS Drilling S.A., we bring what matters most to the geothermal market:

  • Heavy, modern drilling rigs designed to reach deep hydrogeological horizons across diverse rock strata,
  • A team of engineers and drillers with an extensive operational track record in demanding vertical and directional projects,
  • Experience in planning and executing multi-well drilling campaigns, ensuring optimised mobilisation costs and the stability of the rock mass.

We are ready to work in partnership with local governments, district heating companies and institutional investors. We have the technological base, the know-how and the equipment capacity to jointly turn Poland's geothermal potential into operational, safe and profitable heating systems.

We encourage you to dive into this fascinating discussion from Day 2 of the Forum (video in Polish):
